📱 iPhone Data Wipe
STEP 1: Back Up Your Data (Optional)
If you want to keep your photos, contacts, and data:
- Go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup
- Tap "Back Up Now" and wait for it to complete
STEP 2: Sign Out of iCloud
This is CRITICAL to avoid activation lock:
- Go to Settings → [Your Name] at the top
- Scroll down and tap "Sign Out"
- Enter your Apple ID password when prompted
- Choose what data to keep on your iPhone (doesn't matter since we're erasing it next)
- Tap "Sign Out" again to confirm
STEP 3: Erase All Content and Settings
- Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone
- Tap "Erase All Content and Settings"
- Enter your passcode if prompted
- Tap "Erase iPhone" to confirm
- Wait for the process to complete (can take 10-30 minutes)
STEP 4: Remove SIM Card
- Use the SIM eject tool (or a paperclip) to remove your SIM card
- Keep your SIM card for your new phone
✅ How to Verify It Worked:
Your iPhone should show the "Hello" setup screen in multiple languages. This means it's been completely wiped and is ready to sell.
📱 iPad Data Wipe
Follow the exact same steps as iPhone above:
- Back up to iCloud (optional)
- Sign out of iCloud (Settings → [Your Name] → Sign Out)
- Erase all content (Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPad → Erase All Content and Settings)
- Remove SIM card if applicable
📱 Android Phone Data Wipe
STEP 1: Back Up Your Data (Optional)
- Go to Settings → Google → Backup
- Tap "Back up now"
STEP 2: Remove Google Account
- Go to Settings → Accounts (or Users & accounts)
- Tap your Google account
- Tap "Remove account"
- Confirm removal
STEP 3: Factory Reset
- Go to Settings → System → Reset options
- Tap "Erase all data (factory reset)"
- Tap "Erase all data" to confirm
- Enter your PIN/password if prompted
- Wait for the reset to complete
STEP 4: Remove SIM Card & SD Card
- Remove your SIM card
- Remove any SD memory card if you have one
📝 Note:
Menu names may vary slightly depending on your Android phone model (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.). Look for terms like "Factory Reset," "Erase All Data," or "Reset Phone."
💻 MacBook Data Wipe
STEP 1: Back Up Your Data (Optional)
- Connect an external drive
- Go to System Settings → General → Time Machine
- Set up Time Machine and back up your Mac
STEP 2: Sign Out of iCloud
- Click the Apple menu → System Settings
- Click your name/Apple ID at the top
- Scroll down and click "Sign Out"
- Enter your Apple ID password if prompted
STEP 3: Sign Out of Other Services
- Sign out of iTunes/Music: Open Music → Account → Sign Out
- Sign out of Messages: Open Messages → Settings → iMessage → Sign Out
STEP 4: Erase Your Mac
For Macs with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3):
- Click Apple menu → System Settings → General → Transfer or Reset
- Click "Erase All Content and Settings"
- Enter your password and click "Continue"
- Wait for the Mac to erase (can take 30+ minutes)
For Older Intel Macs:
- Restart your Mac and immediately hold Command (⌘) + R
- Release when you see the Apple logo
- Select Disk Utility → Continue
- Select your startup disk (usually "Macintosh HD")
- Click Erase and confirm
- Quit Disk Utility and select Reinstall macOS
✅ Verification:
After erasing, your Mac should show the setup assistant asking you to choose your country/language. This means it's been wiped successfully.
